What are YOU sincerely proud of today?

By | Coaching Tips 'n Tools, Insights to help you #quickshift, Transformational thoughts | No Comments

Do you breathe your very essence and power into your life every day?

Or do you tend to play small and tone it all down?

Why is it that we are still sometimes too shy to share the great things in our life? All that stuff we are taught when little about keeping your light under a bushel and not blowing your own trumpet…..I think that ultimately we do ourselves an injustice. So, today I am challenging you to actually stand up and be proud of who you are and what you are achieving in your life, no matter how small or big it appears externally. I have been sharing my secrets lately about radical shifts, tough times etc, so what about sharing some of the groovy stuff I am experiencing too?

Are you able to acknowledge something awesome in your life today that you are so proud of it could burst out of you if you let the world to see? It can be something small that is just for your own self-esteem – knowing that you got through today, or being proud that you are sticking to your exercise routine. Or that you actually remembered to call your friend on a day you know mattered to them. It could be an outcome at work that leaves you feeling proud and puffing out your tailfeathers – perhaps something a colleague did in passing this morning that reminded you how awesome you are?

Or maybe it’s a real biggie that you have been feeling shy to share with others – will they be jealous, not be happy for you or do you battle to take the credit? Close your eyes for a moment and let yourself feel the energy of being truly proud of yourself. Not in an overly egotistical way, but more of in an “I am prepared to acknowledge this because it makes me feel honestly great” kind of way.

PRACTICAL CHALLENGE RIGHT NOW!
Find something that you are willing to acknowledge and tell 5 people today.

Mmm yes 5!

My masterminders have to do that every two weeks when we meet- start off by sharing something they feel is a success! It builds self-worth and keeps the positive energy flowing especially when things feel a little rocky or tough! Yes 2017, we know what you have thrown at us!

What is something that YOU are proud of accomplishing in your life right now? See if this can stretch your comfort zone just a bit. You may feel awkward, you may feel shy, you may feel like an egotistical and arrogant person…but what if you also feel the light that shines inside you as you share that with another human. Let yourself be seen for whom you really are today……go on!

I am proud of…..!!!

I’d like to share what I am currently proud of with you:  I am so proud that I managed to stick out 3 months in the USA.
Even though it has been my dream for the past 3 years to go for an extended 3 month visit to see how much I really love it, I literally went there with NO plans, no specific work lined up in the USA, no conferences to attend or movies to appear in, Premieres to walk the red carpet at or friends birthday’s to celebrate as per every other visit thus far. Of course I always have my location free lifestyle and all my wonderful regular online courses, writers and masterminders. But that was it. Three months stretched out ahead of me – in dollars!

I went essentially to SHOW UP for my third book SHIFT YOUR HOME as I have always had a dream about collaborating in the USA. In the first two weeks I pretty much cried every day, slept ten hours, wondered what the HELL I was doing and just felt so so very alone, small and helpless. Little and pathetic! YEP! So I resorted to my own advice that I dish out and made myself do just ONE thing every day towards finding magic for my third book, and slowly it started unfurling when I got out of my own way! I started doing my yoga at a local studio in San Rafael, hung out at Starbucks to work and guzzle coffee, writing gratitudes and keeping my eye on the bigger dream.  After all, I didn’t want to waste a three-month trip.

SO after wallowing a bit in self created dross, I picked myself up with help from my support teams (my mastermind group, friends, partner and a massive release exercise!) and literally started being as cheeky as all hell and asking people for help to meet people that would be connected to the realty / real estate industry to collaborate with my new book. VOILA- I managed to collide with someone very special and soon we will be releasing the new updated version and online course!

SO BACK TO YOU!!
WHAT ARE YOU SINCERELY PROUD OF?
My challenge to you is that you chat to 5 (FIVE) people about what is happening in your life that you are proud of today. Yes, I mean 5!

And if you really want to UP THE ANTE and put an awesome full stop at the end of the year, keep reading…

Life-hacks from a #locationfree maverick on a #minimalistmanifesto

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
That dreaded time in your life lurks ominously over your head, threatening to unleash droplets of blood and boredom if you don’t make THAT imminent change. This post is to remind you to listen to the words burning in your soul, and take that leap. Whatever YOUR leap is. We often call it a leap of faith, and sometimes it’s more akin to a leap of stupidity and recklessness and yet we somehow then learn the faith along the way!

But #LEAP we must and #SHIFT we will.

20 months ago, the gorgeous space and “community” I called home was about to “disband” and the moment I heard that news, as devastating as the reason was for the others, a flicker of excited energy bubbled up. An answer to a question I had been mulling plopped into my space instantaneously. Within 5 minutes I had it all planned out. I instantly knew that I did not want to create another home in that same city. I needed something a little drastic and scary to step into and help me LEAN into my work and my life a whole lot more. I had been talking about a concept for many years and dreaming about it more strongly for the previous 18 months.

Being #locationfree, a digital nomad on a decadent odyssey.

I share some intimate stories of my vision boards and goals I had created over the years to utilize the clever little RA system in the brain (see DITCH YOUR GLITCH) that had ensured I manifested travelling for more than 6 months of the year for work abroad, but THIS notion of #locationfree was a step deeper. A huge step deeper.

A traveling/ working /global nomad lifestyle.

You see my message and motto I share is #LIVELIGHTLIVELARGE – about letting go of all the STUFF that holds us back to unleash ourselves into a life of magnificence. It was time to up the ante in my own life. My vision is one day to have 3 homes that are part of a bigger, bolder lifestyle, perhaps even co-owned and shared with others and making money when I’m not there. But before I get to that point, that also means exploring where I might want those homes to be. And that is hard to do when one keeps gravitating BACK to your current home. I kept returning to JHB even when I didn’t love it because my home-base was there, my STUFF was there, my car and books, my tree house and art, my life and friends, my partner and my gorgeous cat, Stripey was there. Lucky for me, one of them gets to come WITH me a lot of the time as we carve out a lifestyle together.

About 15 years ago, staying with my friend in London, I read an extract from a beautiful poet/author’s work, “Crossing the Unknown Sea”, by David Whyte. Here is a snippet of that longer extract.

“Tell me about exhaustion,” I said.

He looked at me with an acute, searching, compassionate ferocity for the briefest of moments, as if trying to sum up the entirety of the situation without missing a beat, as if he had been waiting all along, to say a life-changing thing to me. He said, in the form of both a question and an assertion;

“You know the antidote for exhaustion is not necessarily rest?”

“The antidote for exhaustion is not necessarily rest”, I repeated to myself woodenly, as if I might exhaust myself completely before I reached the end of the sentence.

“What is it then?”

“The antidote to exhaustion is wholeheartedness

He looked at me for a wholehearted moment, as if I should fill in the blanks. But I was a blank to be filled at that moment, and though I knew something pivotal had been said, I had not the wherewithal to say anything in reply. So he carried on;

“You are so tired through and through because a good half of what you do here in the organization has nothing to do with your true powers, or the place you have reached in your life. You are only half here, and half here will kill you after a while. You need something to which you can give your full powers. You know what that is; I don’t have to tell you.”

He didn’t have to tell me Brother David knew I wanted my work to be my poetry.

I too wanted more and more WHOLEHEARTEDNESS in my life. I needed to up the ante another notch. Have you ever felt so tired that you wish you could sleep for a year, hell even a decade and then wake up with the energy of a freshly fed 4-year-old? When not only your bones ache but your soul aches? Yes, I thought you would recognize what I’m saying. I have been there several times throughout my life. But in 2015, something different was creeping upon me – a feeling of, dare I admit it, BOREDOM. I was being called to a new way of life, a new way of living and a new way of being.

Time to leap into WHOLEHEARTEDNESS.

So, I embarked on my #locationfree adventure, free from excess, free from one fixed abode, free from a cupboard of crockery or a few extra pair of heels, free from books and now it is 18 months down the line. The hardest question to answer currently from other people I meet is…so where is your home Kate?

Call me up and ask me, and see what I say in response.

Today, 27th October, whilst ambling over the hill from my gorgeous waterfront house I’m looking after to the small village of Pointe Richmond on the east bay of San Francisco – with laptop underarm and a cute writers café I had previously visited as my destination, I wondered what I could, would or should write about today.

As you may know from past blogs, I am less inclined at this phase in my life and business to write blog posts and newsletters because the social media schedule demands it – I cannot be a$$ed to do that to be honest, as then it just feels too forced. Yet I actually feel as if I write to YOU all the time. I am constantly processing beautiful places, people, ideas and connections. I am constantly writing in my head, saying – ooh that’s a great blog idea but sometimes that’s simply where it stays, in my head. Can I push out books, blogs, and articles for consumption? Hell yeah and I have done 1000’s over the past 14 years since embarking on life as a coach, so now I simply write when I feel called to tell you something. And today I am called!

Skipping down the hill, I thought mmmm, maybe I can just write down and share my maverick life hacks for showing up on this #locationfree adventure. So here you go…#locationfree #minimalist manifesto

  1. SHOW UP
You can think, dream and talk about a concept all you want till those cows come home, but mostly life demands that we show up full tilt before we can really access it! You have to leave your home, literally leave your comfort zone, leave your safety net to witness the real magic unfold. If you are currently being called to a place, whether to visit, live, work or do community work, sort out your life in whatever way you need to, and just GO SHOW UP. When you take one step, life will throw ten you more in your favour to support your journey. But you have to be willing to make the first move, no matter how flipping scary and how much everyone else will test your crazy notions. You want to do WHAT? Have you thought about ….and off they go rampaging about why you should NOT do what your heart demands that you do.

  1. WHAT’S YOUR SIGN?
Know how life gives you signs, support and encouragement along the path so that you can tune in better – mine is LEMONS! Yes really. Not white feathers, black cats, clouds in a certain shape, but good ol’ fashioned fresh lemons. One morning in Lesvos, Greece this year, awaiting the arrival of my mum on a charter flight from the UK later that day, I went for a very early stroll around the bustling port of Mytilene, before the rest of the world woke up. I usually start off my day with the juice of a fresh lemon in room temperature water.I had been traveling for 2 days from South Africa and suddenly craved, really craved my morning lemon ritual. It keeps me regular, alkalizes my body, boosts my immune system especially with all the traveling, and gives my stomach a rest before I guzzle coffee. But NO shops were open for another 3 hours – it’s Greece, continental laid back time! But I was CRAVING my lemon. Next thing, within about three minutes I was walking around a sharp corner of the cobbled street, marching up the hill towards the fort on the hill for a gorgeous lookout view, when I almost stepped on it.There at my feet lay one perfect lemon instantly manifested. I burst out laughing. Like a magic trick – POOF. But there was no one around, no kids playing trick or treat, and not even a lemon tree above me to have generously dropped it on my path. Just a beautiful, bold, ripe juicy lemon at my feet. Of course, I picked it up, caressing its oily skin, smelling it and grinning for an hour till I found a coffee shop open. I do regret never having taken a photo of it in situ to show you, but here is the next best thing.

    My magical lemon

I asked the owner of the coffee shop for water and a cup, and some utensil and proceeded to get stuck in while she made my coffee. She kept glancing over at me smiling – whilst I tried to explain, Kalimera, I found this…
I felt like every part of the universe was conspiring WITH ME that morning. I have many lemon tales on my journey around the world to show me I am on the right path. Perhaps there is a book in this idea!

  1. HELP PEOPLE TO HELP YOU
I am always looking for ways to help people out in life, it is such a delight for me to do – so I have adopted and embedded the idea that people love helping me out too! It’s about letting the energy keep flowing in and out. So I have learned the art of being bolder and cheekier in asking people for specific help and telling them what I am doing and why so they know my vision for life and work. I figured I have nothing to lose and it might even inspire someone, plus what you don’t ask for, you don’t get. When I got to the USA, I reconnected with everyone this side of the pond to say hello and check in, and then would share what I was up to– whether to share that I was available to house-sit, wanting to connect with people in the realtor world, or just see who they felt they needed to introduce me to. I make it my job to be interesting company, thoughtful and always leave a space better than I find it, to leave a bit of my energy in my wake. I call it spreading the light. To make people feel good, smile and bring some joy.One such meeting was with a friend and colleague Anthony -we met on my very first visit to the USA about 4 years ago when I came to study with Brendon Burchard. I saw him again back in March just as he was about to attend a friend’s wedding, and we grabbed a food truck lunch in the heart of San Fran. Staying in contact with people you like and respect is so vital. Keep those connections flowing! Don’t just show up when you need something, that’s tacky! He said back then if ever you need anything, just ask.So I did.I drove 90 minutes to go and see him close to his work, took copies of my new book and asked for help! This guy is such a rock star that he is now ON Brendon’s stage sharing his story and collaborating with Brendon. FYI – that is HUGE. I feel so blessed to know him. A former pro-NFL player, now changing the world with his story and lifestyle products. I literally asked him if, as a guest speaker, there was any way he could get me access to attend the course as his guest. #cheeky! I know what an awesome environment Brendon Burchard events are for both learning and connecting – the first time I attended one was the precursor to me being invited as an expert in the award-winning movie, The Secrets of the Keys in the USA. So Anthony managed to get me on the list. I then panicked, as my cash flow was getting low, really low, yet lo and behold some work landed in my lap that week with the YPO. I started asking around for a lift from San Fran to San Diego and a roommate at the hotel, and ta da ta da ta da…I landed up meeting the only person I was meant to meet and collaborate with on my big idea for my book. Watch this space! I now have a global partner and we are adding another whole component to the book!Show up and help people help you! Remember my mantra if you have ever heard me talk at an event. Step by step…

The gorgeous Mr Hustle, Anthony and Miss Niki – my new global partner

Dress up for dinner

  1. BE HARDCORE WITH PARING DOWN YOUR BELONGINGS!
I don’t know what that means for YOU, but how do you be hardcore compared to how you are currently living? For me, that meant totally letting go of my gorgeous tree house in the heart of a big city and all my belongings except for 3 boxes and a piece of art. Stuff that I figured I would ship to another country one day. The hardest part? My big Tiger Stripey going to live with my dear Megan, and all the books. Yes, all the books signed by the authors I know.I literally travel with everything else that I own, except, wait, I fib; I leave my salsa dancing shoes under my boyfriend’s bed! For the rest, when it’s time to move, I open up the cupboard and pack everything into my case and head to the airport, ferry, or car. And I hate to confess that STILL, that darn rule of 80/20 applies. I have one suitcase of clothes, and yet I probably don’t touch close to 60 percent of it most of the time. I have party clothes, smart corporate clothes, sexy dresses, comfy travel stuff and casual wear. And 7 pairs of shoes! All in ONE international 23kg suitcase! Don’t believe me? Well then pick me up at the airport if you can beat Naldo to the arrivals! What would hard-core look like for you?

  1. THE LOW DOWN – IT GETS REALLY LOW!
I have to be honest and say #locationfree is ALSO tough! So is your life in some areas. Deal with it gracefully!

Tis true- we WORKED on a cruise ship to Mexico!

I’m still a working girl. I need to work, I have to work, I yearn to work, and I want to work. I also still honestly need an income; like most of us do and even if I had a million bucks buffer in the bank I know I would still be doing 80% of what I’m doing. It’s in my bones. All that my current chosen lifestyle of #locationfree means is that I no longer work from one city or country or have an address to call my own home. I don’t call any country home right now. But as much as glamorous destinations and a gorgeous photo roll is – filled with deep blue Aegean sea and daily rock swims with dedicated writers, exploring the ruins of Athens and Delphi, lavish housesits with stupendous views of San Francisco, living with a Siberian cat in the very heart of London, spending 4 months with my mum, delightful rendezvous, connections and conversation in JHB with my partner Naldo, being captivated by European summers, cruising to Mexico and everywhere else in between looks and is delightful – it definitely, most definitely has a flip side. Every single choice we make has the pro and the con side. It is no different. My view is just different.

It gets tough. I get lonely – even though I strike up conversations with total strangers, I spend a LOT of time completely on my own. I miss my lover. Breathe! I long for my close friends. I yearn for my cat Stripey and feel him next to me often in the deep of the night. I am regularly deeply exhausted from traveling and from always needing to “land” in a new space, city or country. I don’t have my regular dentist, hairdresser, nail salon or yoga studio on hand. Or the supermarket where I don’t have even think where the milk is when I walk in. Autopilot doesn’t exist out here. So I usually look like a woolly mammoth 4 weeks after I leave SA (I have been known to walk into a male barbershop to get the back of my hair done with clippers whilst I long for my salon of choice – this gal has to TRY and stay video friendly ya know).
I do my own nails  – thanks to my Nan as I learned to be a superb nail painter doing her feet growing up.
I have a very cool and sexy yoga app on my phone: DOWN DOG
Meditation reminder to keep me sane: HEADSPACE
Lots of audiobooks – better earphones are on my wishlist! Oh, Dubai is my next work stop so that might be a little shopping spree. If you have favourite brands, please let me know!
Plus a sassy and HOT  Latin American mix made by yours truly, Naldo. If ever you see a crazy white woman with wild silver hair doing a little salsa step and hip gyration whilst walking down the street, it might just be me!
I also travel with my biokineticist sitting on my shoulder nudging me on– with my ball and band and make sure I do core exercises.

There is generally a huge lack of routine, lack of familiarity, lack of community, lack of support, different beds (definitely not good for my dodgy spine), even a couch every now and then, deep loneliness, airports, LOTS of airports and air-conditioning and time wasted traveling. I have learned to turn the travel time into an art. I am not swanning around the world in business class, so trust me when I say it’s exhausting traveling across the globe.

I have learned that I need way more sleep than I used to. Ha- maybe that one is just aging and nothing to do with travel?

I know you would think it’s all exciting being in different locations, but you have to recalibrate everything in every new place! Sometimes my credit cards and cash cards don’t work no matter how many steps I take to improve that from the South African side, or my phone doesn’t work. The other day I had $50 of groceries at the checkout, and three cards didn’t work. Embarrassing. Walk across the street and draw cash out with the very same cards and go back to pick up groceries. Go figure! Oh my gosh – my cash flow gets dangerously low when living in a Northern Hemisphere more than the southern.

Traveling all over the world also means I miss out on much work because people cannot “see” me. I’m not at all the events in one city, or can pop out to see a client.

Most things are working, and some things could 100% be improved! That is called life. And I wouldn’t change a thing! Well…. except seeing my loved ones more!

  1. FLIRT DEEPLY WITH PEOPLE AND LIFE! ALWAYS!
This one is super simple, but maybe not that easy.  Get turned on by life, people, the planet and the possibility of magic all around you. Be memorable! Flash your pearly smile, make eye contact and be intimate with people and fall in love with life every day. By this I mean, be kind, be open, be interested AND interesting. Find that magnetic part of you, that is truly you and share that with people. Our world needs to be flirted with. Do you do that? Most importantly, when someone says “Hey, you should meet so and so”, just say YES and do it. I have had THE most magical fun, and fortuitous meetups through the most bizarre, wonderful circumstances. From a generous woman Illana I literally met the day before I left SA when having my eyebrows done (oh gosh, add that to my list above), who then introduced me to her friend Mel here in SF, where I landed up staying for two nights in her spare room and doing my first ever USA local movie (yes yes already did MY movie premiere in Las Vegas but this was in a  regular theatre); to looking for the BLUE ANGELS  on fleet week together, and being introduced to others in her network all from that one little mail saying- oh you must meet so and so.Then one of my writers penning their book in Amsterdam (originally from the Bay area)  introduced me to her cool writer friends here in SF – we became friends over the past few months and was generously offered her home (aka palace) that I’m looking after right now – well actually let me be honest and say the house is really looking after me! Then by simply being here (read #1 SHOW UP above) next week I move into the neighbours home to stare at this stupendously glorious view a little longer and look after a gorgeous kitty called Eames.

  1. HONOUR THE DAY AND GET OUTSIDE
I fell into a deep emotional hole (it’s been a bit of a theme this year) the first couple of weeks when I arrived in the USA. I was really battling in a housesit- way too much clutter, junk, and dirt everywhere for me, so it felt like I should have been working in the house as an organizing job to sort it out, yet it wasn’t my place. nor was I being paid to do that. I felt like I was being swallowed up every which way I turned. I wondered what the HELL I had done by just getting on a plane and showing up to just BE in the USA for three months with no plans and no work. Thank goodness for animals, yoga at a local studio, accessing the community and a friend who reminded me to look for beauty and signs wherever I was. I went for a walk and found all the things she told me to look for! I had been holed up with my computer with clients in SA and already stressing about USA cash flow, so was feeling totally constricted in every sense of the word. My Mum reminded me to get out of the house every day– and I remembered, DUH, to go and work in coffee shops. And the very first time I lodged myself onto the Starbucks seat, I got chatting to someone and my day was brightened. I make it a point to get out, meet people and drink good coffee, or the evil thing below. How can you get out and connect today?

My new decadence – coffee mocha salted caramel freezochino. Limited to ONE per two weeks

  1. TRUST TRUST TRUST
Short but sweet – No matter how hard life gets, there is no more to say other than TRUST TRUST TRUST. And then, trust some more. And when you can’t, talk to someone who does, until you can trust again. I’m off to look at this sublime view at the bottom, so until next time, see what you can do to try out one of these life hacks!

ARE YOU GOING TO CLOSE OUT STRONG IN 2017?

The profundity of asking a question that resonated!

The profundity of asking a question that resonated with you!
I posted this question on Facebook for both myself and my clients. Having just come through and out of my own inner “Irma” – the hurricane devastating the Carribean and Florida – and witnessing clients all over the world being squished, squashed, and squelched, bobbing up for some beautiful, deep breaths and breathtaking views before being swept under again – I posed this question to my tribe.

“Anyone else out there being a bit sideswiped by life at the moment? Whether your energy levels, financial, feeling disconnected, battling to get clarity on a way forward etc etc etc? And if so how are YOU best riding that uncomfortable wave? Would really love some input from you …”
UPDATE a couple hours later: so I asked this inquiry both for myself and also for many of my clients who are just in a somewhat very transitional space right now – shuffling, stuck, overwhelmed, unsure, then surges of energy and inspiration, followed by doubt, lack of confidence etc etc. Loving ALL your answers here – love my FB family around the globe!!

Here is the list that exploded on my timeline – deep sources of inspiration and ideas. Perhaps ONE is for you today.

Piet Filmalter Blendid.co.za …try it out – healthy as ever, taste great, and very easy for lazy/in-a-hurry type of person. And those days where you need to operate on a higher level, Provigil – if you can afford it or get a prescription for it.
Shelley Walters Sleep. Zzz
Sandy Bisschoff Trying to live in the moment and go with the flow, taking each day as it comes. I know that it’s temporary and I’ll have energy and direction again soon. Also reading Eckhart Tolle’s Power of Now (for the first time!) which is helping
Marilu Meiring For me it was realizing that by doing things in my own strength, is what quickly exhausts me. I’ve always believed in God but it was a relationship I neglected. Recently I decided to start to invest and prioritized my relationship (and understanding) of God again, I stepped into a world of peace that no matter what, gives me the power to let go and trust that all things work together for good.
Kate Emmerson yes I too need to be connected to spirit – if I am unplugged that’s when all my “drama” starts. Weirdly enough JUICING gets me reconnected, followed by Yoga. It’s like a fast track queue to spirit for me
Marilu Meiring That’s fabulous  What helps me is to know that I’m truly loved by Spirit and that only good things are intended for my life. So even in waiting (or with nothing happening), it is intended for my good and that is a comforting believe to hold on to.
Fran Stephanie Fainman I did the art of living foundation happiness program, where I learned a fabulous Kriya technique and pranayama breath work, which shifts energy very quickly. Sending hugs
Justine Visser Stay in the moment, meditate and remember, it will pass♡ and I promise it does, just another shift in your ascension process
Terry Stallard Just had a “crash n burn” with health..and income…
1)Got off conveyer belt of busy-ness and false stimulants (sugar and caffeine)
2) Taking time to rest and “be still” …definitely re-connect with God
3) Changing lifestyle…healthy diet….
4) Simplifying lifestyle….living within means..keeping out of debt
5) Exploring new ways of doing business..learn, read, learn…and possibly start writing….
Fran Stephanie Fainman I did the art of living foundation happiness program, where I learned a fabulous Kriya technique and pranayama breath work, which shifts energy very quickly. Sending hugs
Justine Visser Maybe this will help;
A sense of being held back. Many of us are feeling the sensation of something holding us back, from doing what we know we should be doing. Or coming up just short no matter how hard we try. Or procrastinating even though we may have a bit more clarity on what we feel we should be doing. We have had some very creative moments, but at large we still have that feeling that we can’t really get going. We don’t seem to be able to build any momentum to actually get started on our new projects and ideas for our soul mission.
That may be because on a physical level we still need to sleep a lot to process all the changes and integrate the light. While from a soul level, something seems to hold us back and prevent us from moving forward with it. We don’t know why but we have the feeling that we are still waiting for something before we go ahead. And we are. We are being asked to work through our core wounds first and to connect with the people around us who we are meant to connect with from all over the planet. We are building ourselves a strong foundation to support us and then propel us forward when the right time comes.
The Universal energies are aligning now for the big shifts to come. All this delaying has the purpose to fully bring us into perfect inner balance. The balance between aloneness and community, between the masculine and the feminine energies within, between being and doing, between giving and receiving. We must trust that we will get the energetic push to move forward, as soon as we are ready. This is the ultimate letting go of control and letting Source work through us and guide us.

I literally see Him move in my life now that I am giving it more attention and learning to take each day as it comes…resting in the knowledge that God has got this. Frances Amanda Briggs Side swipes are instant feedback signals to rest, stop, sit, listen before taking action. I tend to approach adversity with curiosity to learn and evolve. I turn to self-care for comfort and clarity. I enjoy massages, journaling, EFT, mindfulness, eating plant and raw with loads of sleep. I hibernate and usually emerge solid and centered afterwards…
Kirsten Kennedy Gratitude for every day. Release the need to drive goals and control. Trust you will get there anyhow, this is an interesting detour worth exploring. Feel the flow, smile…. aaaaand go!
Wendy Ward Kate, thank you putting this inquiry out. It is so easy to become disassociated and disconnected. These are deeply unsettling times. It is hard to BE WITH such despondency, despair and confusion, to sit with the collective grief, to witness division and hatred, to live so close to the edge of insanity. It is easier to numb the pain, distract oneself, remain in denial, etc etc.

For me, and your question has caused me to reflect, these things are helping:
* Being weirdly comfortable not having a frigging clue most of the time what is going on. Taking the next small step into the unknown. Trusting my intuition.
* Coming back to my body, to sensation, again and again. This is helping me get out of my head. It’s like constantly noticing when my attention is focused outward and bringing it back inwards. Being aware of the breath as much as possible throughout the day. What do the sages keep reminding us: we are who we are looking for. Coming home to myself.
* Running the BARS – amazing – helps defrag the brain! For me, it has reduced my distractability in remarkable ways.
* Grounding. Lots of this. Walking bare feet. Being in nature. Literally resting, lying down, being held by the earth. Tree Meditation so wonderful.
* Stillness and silence. Sensing this stillness and silence every time I turn my gaze inwards.
* Being open to or allowing emotion to move through me – actually feeling stuff!
* Not taking things personally (harder said than done).
* Lots of chakra work. Keeping my heart open. Prayer and meditation. Choosing to believe, at the deepest level, that I am fully supported by the Universe. Mind is Resilient.
* Avoiding alcohol and nicotine. Letting go of these old friends almost entirely – body simply can’t handle. Big shifts as a result.
* Trying to take 100% responsibility for what I am thinking and what I am creating. This is the bit I CAN do when all else in world threatens to overwhelm.
* Sweat Lodge – monthly sweat – awesome community.
* Mates like you! Holding space for each other.

Natalie Uren Today … really feeling the effects of long-term caring for my parents. About to go to yoga
Candice Wasserfall-Somerville Life is hard right now with so many sick friend and family but we have been taking the time to enjoy the small things in life. We sit in the mornings together and enjoy the birds singing while we drink our coffee. We are making memories with concerts ( Jonny Clegg ) and holidays. We are also starting a family Happiness journal to remind us of the good things that have happened during the day/ week. A photo album is also good to capture the good times of the year. It’s great to get rid of stuff, be free and have more time as there is less to clean! Surf that wave

Patience OR procrastination huh?

By | Coaching Tips 'n Tools, Transformational Journeys, Transformational thoughts | No Comments

Every now and then, it is true – that sitting patiently, silently, in a centered and non -pressurized way, simply biding your time is absolutely necessary! A bit like the full moon and the special Eclipse last night.  It can only happen at the EXACT moment it is ripe to happen. Not one second before. You can read more about what this eclipse means for you from an awesome colleague, Cassandra- click here.

And at other times, you are merely conning yourself -yes, YOU ARE CONNING YOURSELF and playing small. And what is called for is a little nudge or even a tougher kickup the b*tt  to get back into action as opposed to wallowing around pretending to be patient. All that matters is that you do the right one at the right time, and don’t con yourself you are being “patient” when actually you are faffing around. “procrastinating”.

Make sense?

There is a HUGE difference between these two scenarios. I think that all too often we think we are being patient with regards to an outcome we want, or a goal we are working towards, when all we are really doing is wasting time and space by not doing anything. We can lull ourselves into the sense of false security that the time is not right, when in actual fact we are conning ourselves and letting ourselves easily off the hook.

We can get VERY good at doing that.

There is wisdom in knowing the difference between the two. Let me keep it simple as to how I see the difference…and see if you recognize where you are right now with regards to some aspect of your life.

How do you recognize if you are being patient?

You have a sense of order

You trust that things are right for you

It feels good on the inside

There is a sense of calm

You feel empowered that all is as it should be

You are positive about what is coming

You have taken all possible action within your power for this goal / outcome

You are excited and optimistic

You can sense the divine timing around it all

How do you recognize if you are just “messing about wasting time” procrastinating?

You are lethargic and tired

Your head is not focussed on your goal

You have no sense of direction….just ambling around

You have not taken all actions within your control

You expect others to be doing things

You are irritable the goal is not happening

You are blaming people or circumstances about why the goal is not being reached

You are doing things that have no real value; TV, shopping, sleeping unnecessarily

You are bored and apathetic

So, when you think about something that you say you really want and are not getting, just assess where you are at HONESTLY and if you need to actually start taking different action and get your b*tt into gear. If things are just as they should be for right now and everything is in perfect harmony then get on and enjoy the time you have on your hands by doing something else you really enjoy?

You cannot speed something up that is not ready…..so don’t even try.

HERE’S WHAT TO DO NOW IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE FAFFING ABOUT…

Love, life and little lice on Lesvos

By | Coaching Tips 'n Tools, Transformational Journeys | No Comments

Of all the things one expects to see in Greece after the sparkling sea and white washed buildings with royal blue shutters, I think that ranked next highest is the plethora of kitty cats you just know in your heart that you will stumbled upon, fall over, give fright too, gaze upon and most definitely capture on your camera as they go about their lazy days. Maybe some sheep, goats, fish and seagulls too, but ALWAYS cats, always lurking close by food, wine, laughter and sunshine. You cannot get away from it. If you don’t like cats, don’t come to Greece – simple. Or bring your allergy pills with your dose of compassion.

From a tender age, all of double-figured ten in fact; I was the proud “slave” to a very special lilac point Siamese. Although a few years prior, Dixie had crept into our family by eating leaves outside the back kitchen door to capture my Nan’s attention – but now, this oriental beauty was truly mine. Or I was his to be honest. A birthday present I had begged for, longed for and dreamt about. The name Azure Dee had been tossed into the summer breeze of possible names by my Nan – a painter and artist at heart. She never said something was blue – it was cornflower blue, periwinkle blue, or Azure – just like the Aegean Sea where I am right now. Azure Dee sounded exotic and stage like and I loved it. You had to say it just right too: Aaaayzouer Dee, with a whimsical lilt to your voice.

So cats have been capturing my big kitty heart for a few decades now. Most cats in Greek are street cats – a mixture of wise, a tad shaggy and shabby, and full of love, life and the odd little lice (maybe fleas). On this idyllic island of Lesvos, and more particularly in Skala Eresos (where we host our writing retreats and catch a bronze tan) there are some very special cat and dog carers in the community and vets who donate of their time to spay, neuter and care for them. What I discovered on this, my second visit is that most cats are not as “streetish” as I thought, and they seem to adopt specific restaurants as their home, their hangout, and their spot to be. They might not all have names, but they have fresh fish in their tummy.

I even met three German-Greek cats – I kid you not they are bilingual ones at Gabi’s and Iannis restaurant. I will venture into spelling them as Langhaaken, Bloemenfloeken and ….mmm the third name escapes me so I better pay them a visit. Then I discovered second year around, that one of my favourites, a black cat, sparkling green eyes, ONE white whisker and a penchant for sleeping on my backpack, I found was actually loved at the delightful Gorgona. When asking “Omar Sharif” their names, he just smiled his naughty smile and said, “names, ag, ask me if I love them. YES. Ask me if I feed them. YES. Even in winter I come down from the village to feed them”. So green eyes doesn’t need a name perhaps. Then my favourite cat I was really missing, as after full a week here I had still not seen it yet, thinking perhaps the winter has claimed his life– only to get a big squeaky hello when daring to venture into Blue Sardine to get my fix of …well you know, sardines. I feel happy to NOT be a vegetarian anymore. Perhaps one day my body will demand it of me again, as it has twice in my life before, but for now, I happily devour freshly caught fish, sustaining the local fishermen and restaurants and adding some fat to those thin bellies of kitties in Lesvos.

Do you stop often and long enough to watch?
Watch the world, absorb your surroundings, reflect and see life through the eyes of others, or chat to mewing kitty cats? Or are you too busy running around, scrambling after your life and chasing your goals, or more aptly chasing your tail? What if you were to stop doing what you have always done, and find a new way? For that you need to be brave, willing and supported as you dare to exponentially shift your life. In 2016 I came to the Greek island for one month, and declared 2 months for 2017. And here I am, living that commitment and bringing a group of writers here with me. We have 14 confirmed to join us. Next year I will be running other retreats for healing and weaving your purposeful life too!

HOW CAN I BE OF SERVICE TO YOU RIGHT NOW?

What to do when what you do isn’t doing you!

By | Coaching Tips 'n Tools, Insights to help you #quickshift, Uncategorized | No Comments

What to do when what you do isn’t doing you!
How to move gently through the space of being “bored” of and questioning your supposed passion.

Damn I hate this space – has that feeling ever fallen like the soft patter of rain around you but at some point starts shifting in energy and begins feeling more like it’s a choking smog noosing your neck? When you start feeling a mixture of bored and hemmed in by your very own business, your very own passion. The one YOU created. The one where you can’t blame your boss or your company because well, essentially, YOU created it all.

Oh, the sweet, annoying irony!

I’m in that love-hate relationship right now. With my energy levels, my enthusiasm, my business model, and my future dwelling. It’s a tad too ironic for me! If you read my second book DITCH YOUR GLITCH you will already know the pain ‘n pleasures I faced when having to repurpose my life 8 years go. And I feel a similar time is dawning. A time to think about a new way to do. DO LIFE.

There are honestly days where all I want is a million bucks (not too greedy but can it be in dollars please!) stashed in an offshore account somewhere (can you tell I DON’T have one of those yet), and the luxury of 6 months with ZERO obligations.

ZERO

OBLIGATIONS

I’m fast realizing I have already packed one hundred and fifty years worth of experiences into my meager 49 (on Monday 24th April) years! Some days I love the work I do – feel blessed, ignited, engaged, tuned in, and on others – well let’s say the love factor is a tad lacking.

I want, no NEED to create a new way – forge a new rhythm. It helps me help you better! Going location free last year helped me create an even more beautiful life where I get to travel and share my energy with more people globally, but at the same time there is a lack of …..yes and what next? Trying to live each day in the moment coupled with where is this all going. I do NOT have all the answers, so I am merely musing about how do I,  YOU and us navigate awkward space when it is upon us?

Do you recognize this – where some days you love the work you do and quite frankly there are also other days you just don’t give a damn. This is true for me and  I know this is possibly gonna make you think – hell girl, how on earth can I trust you enough to work with you to help me shift my life?

Well because I’m busy re-configuring things, just like you are. Finding a way forward without dropping all I have worked so hard for. Does that ring true for you too? I know I need some more drastic changes again to step it all up another notch. It is notches, isn’t it? Sometimes it’s little steps, other times a salsa move here and there, next some massive leaps and then periods of confusion and rest. I feel the older I get simultaneously the “scareder” and the bolder I get. I have to wrestle the fear monster to the ground more often and embrace the bold leaper in me more and more. Our tomorrow isn’t promised, so the question is,”What to do when what you do isn’t doing you?”

When the appeal of having to inspire, cajole, shift someone towards their goals or just listen to someone ever again seems too much to ask in the moment and the thought of a six-month silent meditation retreat way up on a hilltop rates high on the appeal list, then I know it’s time! When I start oscillating like this I know I’m in for a bit of a ride that involves culling, setting new boundaries and calling on some bigass boldness in what I choose to channel my work energy into.

I know what it is – I have just been procrastinating!

That’s also the joy of getting older – I really don’t have to try and do everything and the biggest gift to myself is alignment and doing what matters the most and gives my soul the best kick of energy in return.  Are you at that point yet? I know I’m just messing with my head – because helping and inspiring others in some form just lives in my blood. So I know a few things that I suggest to myself to do when the “What to do when what you do isn’t doing you” mode kicks in…

Get more self-care – massage, reflex, support etc

Practise KINDNESS – for me and YOU

Close out some things draining my energy

Say no to stuff I really don’t want to do

Make different decisions about work I choose to go after for the next 6 months

Be bolder with my fees and simultaneously the value I offer

Sleep more

Juice more

Just let the stuff going on in my head and heart play itself out – sit with it and befriend it for a while

Stop forcing it to shift, ‘cos I know my personal tide will shift – just like yours will.

Like writing blog posts. I last did a newsletter to my database at the end of March, and no matter how often I saw the “task” reminding me to love my database and send a newsletter -I just couldn’t muster up any enthusiasm to write to you. Rude? Mmm, perhaps just honest. Then at the ungodly hour of 1.30 am this morning, with a bit of jet lag still lurking, an energizing call with our professional writer’s mastermind group and the weight of my partner in the hospital, I find myself wide-eyed and willing to write again. LUCKY you ha ha.

SO, WHAT TO DO NEXT?
If you feel like I’m not a total nutter then my birthday gift to YOU is valued at R397 ($30)

SCHEME YOUR THEME…

By | Coaching Tips 'n Tools, Insights to help you #quickshift | No Comments

My questions for you in this week’s BLOG is: “Do you believe that you are a powerful manifesting magnet and are in control of a lot of your day?”

Please STOP and answer this question before reading on…

How did you read and interpret that question? Or is that all a bit way out and woo woo for you? Are you a positive, powerful, manifesting magnet for all your moment by moment experiences, amazing goals and dreams that you aspire to in your life; or are you a negatively powerful, manifesting magnet attracting all the hardship, lessons and “krap” in your life – the debt, anger, bad service, pain, jealousy, retrenchment, divorce etc.?

Or perhaps you shift between these two and are looking to find more “weight” with regards the former?

What you believe about yourself and the world emits a certain vibration or energy out in the world. We are what we think about, feel about, believe, speak about, dream about and live out. Whilst you may not be in control of the world around you and all the crazy happenings, you can be darn sure you are in control of your response to it! So here we are already into February, a Chinese New Year of the Rooster, boldly embracing 2017 and everyone is talking bla bla bla yadda yadda bla bla about changes, shifts, stuff to do, how THIS is my year etc. Lots of positive and negative energy is floating around – the positive is angled towards all the possibility of the year ahead and changes to implement whereas the negative gets vomited out depending on where you live and what’s going down in your country (the Brits are complaining about their inconsiderate transport and early strikes, the Americans about the demise of their country under Trump, the Saffa’s about how can corruption be diminished, JZ removed and rhino poachers strung up by their testicles, the rest of the world about poverty, war, death, famine, children being trafficked and money being stolen left right and centre.

Nothing changes on any given day as that awful struggle abounds at every turn and yet…everything can change in a flash. In an instant!

When it comes to YOU and your life, are you still flying high in the thigh slapping stage, whooping at colleagues in corridors to encourage each other because of course, the gyms are still chokka block at this point right? Yes you can laugh at yourself – we are so daft!

DAFT!

Every year I tell you, every year we do the same thing again and again. Why I purposefully DON’T put out this blog post on the 1st of January is that everyone is still in the thick of the idea that “YES, it will be different this year. I will make my mark and I will impact the world around me.”

Yes, and then?

Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the inevitable “slips” will happen. Those endless lists will be shoved in a drawer and guilt will set in, as you feel overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of responsibility and tasks coming at you. AGAIN.
Gym 5 times a week- honestly?
Better communicator – how’s that working out for you in those meetings huh?
And unanimously on top of that dratted list every year is –
Make more money
Get organized
Spend more time with kids
Get fitter, lose 5 kgs or quit smoking.

Ah yes, and don’t forget sober January. How did that post work non- drink, clean month really work for you?
Or some version of those topics, so I bet some of them made it to YOUR list too.

So HOW do you tap into this idea of being a positive manifesting magnet that can enhance and uplift your 2017?

One of the things I share in my second book “DITCH YOUR GLITCH” is the power of VISION BOARDS. I share my own personal experience with them and how they have honestly helped me change my life, some client’s experiences of them and all the underlying information about WHY they work so brilliantly to keep you motivated, inspired and on track each year, especially if you keep them active (I put mine on my cell phone as a screensaver). They actively tap into the RAS- Reticular Activating System to help feed images and unconsciously conscious messages to your brain, ensuring you pay better attention, stay alert to what you say you want and make you more mindful. They are magic helpers on the path of being a positive manifesting magnet.

But the sad reality is that usually vision boards, goals, dreams and those commitments you have the best of intentions of fulfilling get shoved to the back burner, until you have learned to exercise your manifesting “muscle” over time.

And of course one of your “GLITCHES” (there are 5 I speak about in my book) – will usually win the day, trip you up and keep you playing small, no matter how kickass your vision board is at the start of the year. GLITCHES like being right, and the LOVE running and ruining our lives.

So all your aspirations will go running out the door at full tilt when you get even the slightest whiff of:

Overwhelm

Pressure from work deadlines looming close by

Remarks from family and friends to “stop being so silly”

Fear when your inner voice tells you can’t do what you want to

Unworthiness rearing its ugly head when you believe you are not worthy of achieving it all this year

Distraction yelling at you that something else other than your dreams are more vital right now

Drama from your life or others around you

How are you going to rise above all the external conflicts, demands and obligations and let this be the year that you really DO make some impactful and lasting changes in a specific area of your life? If you haven’t already heard about it, 2017 is a bigger, fresher start energetically. If you add up the 2+0+1+7 = 10, which = 1. So 2017 is a #1 year of the next 9-year cycle, meaning there is an underlying energy you can tap into that will help you start afresh again. Can you somehow tap into the significance of this rhythm for your life?

Are you asking yourself the right questions about the next 9 year cycle, so that this year is the first step on that cycle – it makes it a little more note-worthy doesn’t it? I know I am paying a little more attention to this year and what seeds I sow, knowing the impact is bigger than usual.

The reality is that you are a manifesting magnet, whether you realize it consciously or not. The quality of your self-talk, self esteem and self-belief will determine the positive or negative quality of your life. You are much more in control of your world than you realize! So my challenge to you is that if you don’t like what you have got in your world and in your life, you need to first start thinking, being, doing, acting, speaking and then aligning yourself differently.

How do you know what you want – you look at what you have GOT!!!  EEEECK – At the deepest of sub conscious levels. I dare you to OWN THAT as an idea for a while and see what happens to your outlook on what you can shift.

If I can offer some advice for this time of year, I would suggest you pair it down to something even simpler than a vision board, or your myriad of goals/resolutions. Bring it down to ONE CONCEPT. I talk about the THEME, or ESSENCE of your year going forward. More than a goal, this is like an umbrella that will color and tint the way you go about your year ahead.

It can be a single word, 3 words, a sentence. Perhaps like the title of a book.

It enables you to have a YES/NO way to track everything you do, everything you say YES to, every decision you make, every action step.

You can come back to this ONE SIMPLE ESSENCE so that every single time you make ANY decision you can pitch it against your ESSENCE and evaluate “will this help me live this essence this year”?

Every year I have an ESSENCE that gets plotted out on a vision board. Some of mine have been…

Aligned Freedom

POWER

Courageous shifts – big and small

The key to life is being you.

Global nomad – yes the year I manifested 8 overseas trips (none of which were booked at the start of that year when I created that theme!)

Reaping exponential rewards on my decadent odyssey – 2016 that was one of my best LOCATION FREE years ever, after packing up my home and travelling the world for work and life, making plans to spend more time in the USA.

For me 2017 is my year of “FOUNDATIONS TO FLY” – unpacked a bit more that means “Profoundly Stable foundations to fly courageously and luxuriously high”. I am so excited about how I am creating this year ahead and put a lot of work into it over December and January as I closed out my year with mindful purpose to gain traction for the year ahead! I have to do some necessary work on my business foundations again, reworking and rewiring some of how I offer services, yet I am hell bent on living with courage and offering everything up as bigger and bolder and I am ready for my travel to be a notch more luxurious. Everything I do is geared around this over-riding ESSENCE now.

Some clients themes have included:

Organized simplicity

Abundance abounds

Compassionate Care – self and others

Empathy, enthusiasm and energy

Passion and profit

BOLD ‘n brave
My year of “ME”

YES!

Fearless boundaries

Getting Clean – inside and out

Space

Show up

Go big or go home

Letting go – making space

New beginnings

Purposeful prosper

And the list goes on and on …

THE SASSY SYNCHRONISTIC STUFF OF SIMPLY SHOWING UP
#Minimalist meanderings

Recently in the quaint country of Romania for some work, I experienced some (well SEVERAL) sassy synchronistic stuff unfold as I allowed the special energy of this beautiful city take over for a while. I was staying in a flash 5 star hotel as a guest of my host in the country (Sassy #1 – having been delightfully upgraded from an already wonderful 4 star hotel as upon checking in they were renovating that back part of the hotel and a band had extended their stay, so they had no room at that Inn and so they “moved me” to the ooh la la Radisson on the front) Ooh I love that I believe in unexpected delights!

Sassy #2 – there were strelitzias basking on the new concierge’s desk at check in. Hello South Africa. The Radisson was also directly opposite the main concert hall near the old walled city, and 2 days later I discovered there was a special concert on THAT evening. How?

I had been gifted a three-hour private walking and driving tour of the city earlier by my hosts, and we happened to go inside the concert hall to view it’s historical magnificence when we stumbled across some deeply inspirational choral practice whilst looking up at the domed ceilings with awe. Sassy #3 – My amazing tour guide mentioned there was a very special concert on that evening – nudge nudge wink wink.

Sassy #4 – we then landed up in front of the “palace” that was built under Communist rule, now the seat of government. My host proclaimed, that although being Romanian she had never yet been inside or had the tour, and that sadly you need to submit your passport at least 24 hours before in order to get inside. We were marveling at it from the parking lot. Then she gets a twinkle in her eye and says- shall we try and get in? She made a phone call to a friend who works inside, and even though he WASN’T working that particular day he said – go to the entrance and they will allow you to visit today! My host and guide both decided I was their lucky charm, making everything so easy and effortless.

I started feeling a bit lousy in the afternoon after returning from the tour, and had taken myself off to bed for an afternoon nap, contemplating the concert that night. 35 minutes before the start of the concert, I knew I would regret not trying to get a ticket, so I dragged myself out of bed again, splashed my face and added a dash of lipstick, walked across to the “late sales” booth at the side, and stood in a long queue.

Mmmm bed seemed very appealing again. Waiting, slowly.

I saw a very well dressed elderly gentleman standing near the queue for the 15 minutes I was there and kept wondering what he was doing? He wasn’t talking to anyone, but kept trying to motion to them. I kinda felt sorry for him. As I got to the front of the kiosk, they told me they only accepted CASH> >>>aaaargh I only had my card.
Cash machine here? No!
Tickets were 75 leu and I had only 40 leu cash on me. Damn. Maybe the other Hotel across the road could convert my foreign money, as I knew my own hotel didn’t do that. In Romania what is weird is that all the hotels only work in Euro’s, as it’s now part of the EU, yet all the local shops and establishment still use Romanian Leu, the original, local currency. It’s a tad confusing.

That Hotel also had no local money for me and the banks had closed ten minutes ago.

Eventually after 10 minutes – with the show now starting in ten minutes, I found a cash machine, realizing it would dispense in local currency. DUH! Now, a little weird travel lesson from South Africa. We are considered a slightly “dodgy” country, you know because we look and sound just like Nigeria where most of the money laundering in the world happens. Every time I leave SA I spend about an hour on the phone calling my two banks and getting all my business and credit cards cleared for the countries of my travel, otherwise any foreign transactions might be deemed fraudulent transactions. And even after doing that time-consuming clearance, they can still decline transactions when I’m overseas. So I have multiple cards with multiple options so as not to get caught out.

It took me three cards to be able to draw cash from THIS Romanian machine!

Right – dash back, sweating and huffing to the queue, now with less than 5 minutes till show time. Old man still there. Sassy #5 – He shows me a ticket and says “you for one?” He seems to “imply” he has a ticket (in very broken English and of course I am 200% fluent in Romanian) so I go to the kiosk lady and get her to verify the ticket is indeed valid as there was no date on it (that’s how their special season tickets work apparently) and he says he wants only 60 leu for it. B for bargain, as the tickets were  originally 75 leu.

“COME” he urges, “we late”.

As we are walking and running up the stairs he manages to convey to me that his wife is home and ill and this is her season ticket – pretty good communication hey? We walk into this uppermost concert room and I gasp. OMG – vast, bold, exquisite and ornate. Everyone dressed to the nines and I am transported to ancient Eastern European grandeur.

Sassy #6 – He proceeds to walk to the FRONT ROW. I am front and centre and can hear the musicians breathe as they are warming up. In and out, deep and crisp and even. And the faint squeak the violin string makes before the haunting sound is emitted across the air. I can reach out and touch the conductor as he sashays to the front and lifts his baton!

I can see him twitch and sweat beads form on his brow.

Front row tickets for simply BEING in a city on a night and being willing to show up. I am in awe of the magic of life.

Too often we try and PRE control and PRE book. I believe there is a place for that, but I do love the magic of being in the moment and letting life unfold! FRONT ROW SEATS UNFOLDS! Sassy #7 -The next morning as I head outside to my taxi back to the airport to leave for Greece to run a writing retreat, I see the music conductor sitting in the hotel lobby. Already half way through the revolving door, I make a split second decision to do the full 360 degree circle and get out where I started. I walked up to him, apologized for interrupting his Sunday morning with his female companion, shook his hand and said how marvelous it was that I had enjoyed the privilege of being in the front row the night before. “I remember you, madam, thank you” he said, smiling and eyes twinkling.

And that is how I love to travel.

Do you need to start letting sassy magic unfold in YOUR life? Perhaps I can share some of my methods with you over the next few months?

Last week, I had 90 minutes to “kill” before meeting a dear friend for a mutually soulful chat and had gone early to make sure I was in the right place. So literally killing time, wondering where to go to I was just meandering along in my Russian hat. This “random” guy, bit older than me, Kevin to be precise, stop and says, “I know this is weird but I have (Sassy #8) “time to kill” before making my way to my theatre show tonight with friends and may I buy you a cup of coffee. You look really interesting”. I shrieked with laughter, looked a little shocked and amused at the same time and promptly tuned into my spirit and said yes. I KNOW some of you are reading this with many many “WTF is wrong with you Kate!!!” going round in your head.

As we sat and chatted and told each other a bit about ourselves, (and please let me re-iterate with zero weirdness or innuendos or sexual undertones whatsoever) I was telling him about my new book being released this year helping clients to get really clear on the complex emotional issues of detaching emotionally from a home before putting in on the market to sell, and to support people to sell, pack and move with ease. He just looks at me and smiles – he is about to sell his house and it’s a potentially complicated story with the house and…..Sassy #9 he ALSO works for a well-known estate agent in his town. Now – here’s the rub – I am I the process of looking for potential “brand partners” in the whole property industry, alongside “guinea pigs” to keep working with the material to give me feedback on how it all works for them. Social proof if you like. So this sassy just tickled me pink.

And then there was today catching a bus on a sad, dreary day from Rugby – saying goodbye to my mum on the side of the road just as the light was just coming u, I start chatting the the guy waiting for the bus with me, also headed to Heathrow Airport. Sitting across the aisle, we simply chat about where we are headed and why, and spend the next two hours chatting about work, life, beauty therapy, making brave bold choices in life and business and following our dreams. He landed up Sassy #10 – lugging my suitcase between the buses whilst we waited for an hour and he bought me a mug of tea and became my companion for a while on the road. We even landed up looking at his new brand logos for his business.

Yep, I speak to strangers and I let my trust in people, the world and what we are all doing here seep into my soul at every turn. It’s all to easy to shut off, shut down and shut up. How is that working for YOU?

Call me crazy, call me naïve, call me mad. Or worse. I call it “THE SASSY SYNCHRONISTIC STUFF OF SIMPLY SHOWING UP”. And I mean showing up with trust, openness, love, compassion and your wits about you at every turn. Let life and people surprise the hell out of you, shock you and win you over. Yes, it’s a bit of a dare!

With lightness,

Just because you can’t see it #Lessons from London

By | Transformational Journeys | No Comments

Just because you can’t see it over there…does it honestly mean it doesn’t really exist?

Or perhaps it could signify that simply, you cannot see it?

What if someone else annoyingly can?

What if someone perhaps a little closer to it can?

Or with a different, slightly skewed perspective on life?

A slightly different angle?

Or with different viewing equipment?

We often make something absolute, simply because we cannot see it for ourselves. How arrogant of us darn it!

And what if it’s simply a little mystical mist in the air begging you to walk closer to see what might be revealed as you inch closer? I beg you to stop expecting everything to be so bloomin’ obvious. Learn to follow your heart, your nose, your instinct, a smidgen of trust and a total delight in being. Simply insatiably and incurably curious.

Yes, insatiably, incurably curious.

I have a favourite, delicious past time that has been with me my whole life. Well since I was 8 little years old and flew on a plane on my own, unaccompanied. Yep, I’m an intrepid, gypsey-like traveller. Whilst I often travel with a partner, friends or am meeting clients in foreign countries for work, I also travel a lot on my own and REVEL in days I can spend meandering and musing on my own. Put me in a city, town or the middle of nowhere and I am simply happy to explore.

Meander slowly even if it looks like I’m walking fast.

I usually wake up, do some yoga at home (well let’s not pretend THAT happens every day, but mostly I do, to stretch the ol’ bones) then I make it a priority to find freshly brewed coffee…and then I’m off.

Where to?

If I have just two days in a city, most likely I will do the hop-on-hop-off tour bus, IF that exists there, to get a big picture perspective. BUT, I also find it a little stressful in terms of then trying to fit in EVERYTHING on that darn bus route and animated map glaring at me. Ugh. What I wholeheartedly love more is just to BE in a place. No agenda, definitely with no prescriptive-whilst-attempting-to-be-useful guidebook, and just a backpack filled with some weather appropriate protective gear (either sunscreen in summer or a brollie in winter) and GO.

Yep just go.

I let my heart dictate left or right, stop or go. I find true MAGIC that way. Being in the moment, letting the city talk and whisper it’s longings into my heart. Being present and free, awake and alert. Incurably curious about where a road may lead. Or not.

I had a two-week kitty and houseit in the heart of London recently, and had a lot of time to myself, but this day was special –  just meandering and mooching around on a cold day with gentle fog lurking everywhere. Mystical and magical, hiding things from view. I walked across a bridge for the very first time and in my heart I knew the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben were meant to be there, right in front of me. I took a picture. Really? Just some grey, swirly mist today!

What if I believe and keep going?

Sometimes we have to know the end picture, and just take ONE step in the direction of our destination. I really wanted a picture of Big Ben from the opposite side of Westminster Bridge, to send to my partner. Why? When we decorated his home in South Africa together after he had revamped it, I sourced him three special photographs to buy that were of three amazing bridges across the world, all in warm Sepia tones. Golden Gate, Brooklyn, and Westminster. At the time we were already booked to visit San Francisco, and naturally Golden Gate was one of the bridges we drove across twice – admiring the “international orange” colour of this renowned landmark. We then landed up bicycling across the Brooklyn New York one together – creating for me one of my all-time favourite NY memories. And so the London one is left for us. Whilst we have both seen it on our own, we have never seen or walked across it TOGETHER. I wanted to send him a pic to say …thinking of you darling and I cannot wait to come to this city together. But the bloody bridge was NOT there. Arrrrrgh

Walk

Walk

Walk

Huff

Puff

OOh look, a little cafe and some … mmm….yes they are birds I think

Trust

Walk

Huff

Puff and try to stay warm

Mmmm, what’s that?

It was getting cold, colder, coldest on this foggy and windy day, I had to stop and put a fourth layer on to stay warm – but as I took each step, I got one step closer and it all got a LITTLE clearer. Never crystal clear, but I eventually got to the spot to take my pic. BIG GRIN!

So you have stuck my story out to this point. So what??

Sometimes, you know something is there even when you can’t see it.

Trust your heart, your spirit and your 6th sense.

You don’t need maps, or guides.

Just walk, one foot in front of the other and let the path unfold in front of you.

So often we want to know it all before we set out. How boring.

Business is like that too.

You cannot know all the bits, all the answers, all the steps.

You know where you are and you know the next step.

That’s all you need, really.

Have fun walking the misty, foggy streets of your life as you take steps to make magic this year.

CLOSE OUT STRONG! Quit your flapping and ride your thermals…

By | Coaching Tips 'n Tools, Insights to help you #quickshift, Transformational Journeys | No Comments

“Quit your flapping and ride your thermals.”
D. Jones

Are you are falling prey to this time of year, the ever present negative energy and perhaps even “counting sleeps and sheeps” – not in an excited, overjoyed, childlike waiting for Santa and presents kind of way – but the kind counting diminishing sleeps till you FINALLY take your last commute to the office, or simply say aaaargh THANK GOODNESS this awful year is finally over. I can kick it to touch, desperately hoping never to have a repeat performance?Perhaps your attention is wrapped up in all the disgusts and none of the delights?  Too many people are getting pulled down by others around them, or, (maybe you are the one doing it) buying into the group energy  ….moan moan moan…. I’m tired, too busy, overwhelmed bla bla bladi bla.

What a true pity that is! Really!

But what if you actually want to run at 100 Km, and know it’s possible but you are being stopped by everyone else saying you can only run at 40 km an hour. Because, you know, it’s that time of year and everyone is winding down. Seriously? This is your life. EACH DAY MATTERS! Each thermal you can ride maters. Each kilometre you can run, matters. YOU MATTER!

cheeta-40

Sure, I get that every year has it’s ups and down, I’m IN that pot with you every year. Some years kick you about more than others, some years are filled with delight and I have learned it’s about being OK with that, in fact embracing it! I honestly believe each year has an element of all facets, from drab to fab scattered through the year. Life is about growth, challenge, expanding and learning. It’s not about comfort zones and staying small is it?
Whilst that feels wooly, warm and cozy, it’s not who we are intrinsically. Yet we resist so vehemently when our life wants us to expand. Duh!

And to go one step further – 2016 is a 9 year. Meaning it’s the end of a massive cycle of completion. GOT IT? If you add the numbers together 2016 =9. Therefore 2017 will be a 1 – fresh start, new beginnings. Think about it at it’s most simple level to just greet the concept with a hello.
A 9 ends the current numerical cycle we are in. Whilst there are also 7 -year cycles that operate at another level, there is a very predominant “decade” cycle, which is why we are so obsessed with celebrating the 20/30/40/50/60 etc birthdays.  So whilst the year is completing at one level as we do every year, even deeper than that we are completing a 9 YEAR CYCLE this year.

WOWSER! Just think about YOUR last 9 years. I bet you there is some magic there to remember and maybe some monsters too :)

But when we are dead tired, dead bored, and just stuck in the “ENOUGH ALREADY” zone, it’s almost darn near impossible to stop and harness the past 12 months with creativity and insight. Don’t let this pivotal and precious time of year get away from you untapped! And certainly don’t let the decade beat you down!

Many people reaching out to me are exhibiting one of the following modes: overwhelm, panic, where the heck has the year gone, adrenal burnout, or more often the “I just can’t be as$ed anymore” mode – either jarringly gritting your teeth till you go away and know you can FINALLY switch off and chill to a calmer routine or sign off that big final project for the year as you toss some thank you gifts at clients and dash out the door?

There is a different way.

At some point before 31st December, I set time aside (you will benefit most from about an hour to do it consciously), pour a glass of wine and do a very precious CLOSE OUT STRONG PROCESS to help me wander back over the past 12 months to create a deep awareness of the year gone by. I also do a much, much deeper process at least a month before the end of the year to ensure I‘m keeping my eye on the ball to end on a high.  Think of it as a simultaneous pat on the back and a wee kick up the proverbial to “land” everything.

WANT TO JUMP IN RIGHT NOW?
Here is a condensed version for you to use the following 3 questions to do a powerful 30- minute CLOSE OUT to 2016. Sit with some pen and paper and allow yourself to wander back through the entire year, looking for the high, the low and the let go…

  1. What are you most PROUD OF AND WHY?
  2. What was your #1 CHALLENGE you faced – how can you leverage what you learn from it?
  3. What ONE THING can you leave behind and let go of?

ARE YOU READY TO REALLY UP THE ANTE AND CLOSE OUT STRONG?
Yup, RIGHT NOW!  CLICK HERE

I am so passionate about this concept of completing the year with mindfulness and elegantly putting it to bed, that I have listened to my clients and created a 5-day process – which in reality takes you only 5 hours, just an HOUR A DAY. Don’t drag 2016 into the new year with you!

5- DAYS TO CLOSE OUT STRONG.

STEP IN and Reflect on your year
STEP UP by Committing  to Complete
HARNESS the year’s challenges with wisdom with hindsight
Acknowledge USHERS
Put the year elegantly to bed and LET GO
STEP OUT into 2017 with clarity and a “theme”
